Allison's Diary - What Am I Looking For?

I had a dream where I saw the moon goddess Selena. She was facing away from me, staring at the ocean on a beach in the middle of the night.

"What are you looking for?" Selena asked.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Kate Novack killed herself in jail," Selena said. "Her father is trying to resurrect her. Are you afraid Patrick Novack will succeed?"

"Resurrections don't exist," I replied.

"Then why are you suddenly interested in my religion?" Selena asked.

"Look, this is clearly a dream," I said. "So let me see your face."

I walked up toward Selena to see her face, but the dream ended before I had a chance.

I spent all morning thinking about this dream. Why was I so interested in The Way of Selena? If Kate Novack hadn't killed herself, I could have confronted her. Maybe Kate's suicide didn't give me the closure I was hoping for.

Now that I think about it, the only thing I can do is wait and see what happens.

UPDATE 12:51PM: Patrick Novack pleaded guilty for assaulting two police officers and did not want parole. I guess Patrick won't be resurrecting his daughter afterall. Not that I believe that stuff. I guess I just can't shit go due to trauma. I'm gonna have to try.

Allison's Diary - The Way of Selena Sermon

Kate Novak's father, Patrick Novack, wants to resurrect her. Pastor Stanley Wolfe reported on his congregation's website that resurrection was the topic of this week's sermon. I was curious about what Pastor Wolfe had to say. So, I went to one of his sermons.

"Excuse me," I said to a young blonde woman who was wearing a black face mask. "Do you know where I can find a copy of your scriptures?"

"Just ask Pastor Wolfe after the sermon," the young woman said. "He'll give you a copy."

"Thank you."

Pastor Wolfe took the stand. "Welcome all," Pastor Wolfe said. "Patrick Novack wants to resurrect his daughter. But what do our scriptures say about this topic?" Pastor Wolfe read from the scriptures, which were called The Way of Selena. This particular story was rather long, so here's a summary.

Sol and Selena were siblings who hated each other. One day, Sol and Selena got into a fight, which resulted in Sol killing Selena. As punishment, Tempus and Chaos (Sol and Selena's parents) turned Sol from a sun god to a god of death. That's when Sol changed his name to Morbus. Tempus and Chaos had another son, whom they named Sol, and he became the new sun god. Chaos brought Selena back to life, but her personality changed. Selena went from being a shy goddess to a vain goddess. Eventually, Chaos placed a curse on Selena as punishment. Anybody who sees Selena's face would go insane.

In The Way of Selena, it's up to the followers to interpret the point of these stories.

After the sermon, I approached Pastor Wolfe. "Excuse me," I said to Pastor Wolfe. "Hi, I'm Allison. I've been told I can get a copy of your scriptures from you."

"Absolutely," Pastor Wolfe said. The pastor gave me the book he read from the podium. "I have multiple copies."

"Thanks. Before I go, I have a question. Why did Selena's personality change when she was resurrected?"

"This is just my interpretation, but I think it's because being resurrected was traumatic for Selena. Trauma can change one's personality."

"That makes sense. Anyway, thanks for the book. Have a great night."

"Thanks. You too."

I interpret this story as an allegory about the consequences of one's actions, especially when it comes to nature. If Pastor Wolfe's and my interpretations of this story are correct, then I guess resurrection is looked down upon in The Way of Selena. So, how would Patrick Novack convince others to resurrect his daughter?

Kate's Diary - The Confession

 Kate Novack and her friends killed Jason Lawrence. Emily Grace lured Jason into going camping with her. That's when they abmushed Jason. They brutally murdered him in a way that's too horrible to describe. After they murdered Jason, they dumped his body under a bridge. One by one, they were all brutally murdered. 

Emily Grace and Alex Moody were two friends of Kate. They were also two of the many victims of the Trans Killer. Both were murdered while going camping with her fiance, Uri Dumas. Kate and Uri left the cabin soon after.

"Who's out to get us?" Kate asked.

"It has to be one of Jason's family members," Uri said. "All of Jason's friends left him once you exposed him as a stalker. We're going to the police station. Since I'm a police officer, they won't suspect that we're behind anybody's murder."

It was later revealed that the person who murdered Alex and Emily were victims of the Trans Killer.  Speaking of which, as time progressed, Kate slowly learned of similarly connection to the Trans Killer. First, the physical similarities to her and the Trans Killer. Secondly, Kate had all an outfit that's all black, just like the Trans Killer. Finally, Kate experienced laps in time. That's when she realized, that Kate Novack is indeed Maggie Tyler. That's because Kate Novack suffers from dissociative identity disorder. I am Maggie Tyler, and this is my confession.

I killed Jason Tyler because he was on the verge of covering up my lies. I spread about him. I also killed a bunch of trans people for two reasons. I caved in to all the hate that's constantly spread about trans people. I also wanted Kate to be held accountable for her actions for once in her life. I had to go to extreme to do it.

I'll email this confession to the police as soon as I'm done writing it.

Michael's Diary: All-Star Global Wrestling

 

I was finally able to finish my short story I told Allison I was working on. For once, I was able to write short story without thinking about the two murders. It was quite refreshing.

ALL-STAR GLOBAL WRESTLING by Michael Crane. 

My friends and I started a wrestling company, All-Star Global Wrestling. Unlike most wrestling companies, there are no secondary championships. We also host four tournaments simultaneously for each divison: Men's Championship Divison, Women's Championship Division, Men's Tag Team Division and Women's Tag Team Division.

Jacob's Ladder is the biggest pay-per-view in the company. In the main event, Dreaded Dragon defended the Women's Championship against Red Robin. Their rivalry goes beyond the Women's Championship.

Dreaded Dragon and Justin Raguel were once the “power couple” of All-Star Global Wrestling. Dreaded Dragon was the Women's Champion and Justin Raguel was the Men's Champion. Justin flirted with Dragon for awhile until he asked her out. Dragon rejected Justin, but Justin continued to flirt with her. Sometime later, Dreaded Dragon posted a picture of herself with a black eye and claimed that Justin Raguel assaulted her. Justin was stripped of his title and he was suspended.

All-Star Global Wrestling tried to do damage control by showing PSAs for domestic abuse. But that all changed when Red Robin exposed Dreaded Dragon's lie by showing security footage of her putting make-up on, to make it look like she still had the black eye. Despite Dreaded Dragon's actions, she did not suffer any consequences for her actions, other than turning into a heel. 

Red Robin decided to enter the Women's Championship tournament. Robin won the tournament, despite Dreaded Dragon constantly interfering. This was a story where real life and kayfabe blurred.

Melody Song and Sarah River were the commentators for the match.

“Red Robin is entering the ring to Justin Raguel's music,” Melody said. “The song is Hell by Squirrel Nut Zippers.”

“Behind that mask, you can see the look of anger in Dreaded Dragon's eyes,” Sarah said. “Red Robin is playing mind games with Dreaded Dragon, and it's working.”

As soon as the bell rang, Dreaded Dragon walked toward Red Robin and slapped her in the face as hard as she could. Red Robin retaliated by punching Dreaded Dragon in the face, followed by a sidekick, knocking her to the mat. As soon as Dreaded Dragon got up, Red Robin gave her a spare. As Dreaded Dragon laid flat on her back, Red Robin kept punching Dreaded Dragon in the head, until Dragon smacked Red Robin in both ears.

“The referee gave Dreaded Dragon a warning,” Melody said. “If Dreaded Dragon does this one more time, she will be disqualified. However, that won't make a difference, because a title cannot change hands on a count-out  disqualification.”

“And remember one year ago, the CEO, John Shanter, made a rule for each title,” Sarah said. “If a champion manages to successfully defend their title ten times, the winner gets to retire that championship. In other words, they will never have to defend it again. This is Dreaded Dragon's tenth title defense. However, Dragon will not be able to retire the championship if she loses by countout or disqualification. Which is why Dreaded Dragon may want to win this match fair and square.”

The match was a steady back-and-forth for about 20 minutes. The match ended when Red Robin gave Dreaded Dragon a Red Hot Suplex and went for the pin.

“Here is your winner,” the Ring Announcer said. “And the new All-Star Global Wrestling Women's Champion, Red Robin!”

Chat Log Between Michael and Allison

Michael: “I'm glad the cops finally got a lead on the Trans Killer. I hope they catch her, so Steve and his family can get justice for Alex's murder.”

Allison: “I think Shelly was right. I think Kate Novack is the Trans Killer, after all. Kate match description of the Trans Killer.”

Micheal: “Shit! Looks like Shelly was right all along. Should would make a great P.I.”

Allison: “I left an anonymous tip to the police. i guess I'll wait for the police to investigate.”

Michael: “I don't know about you, but I need. break from this shit.”

Allison: “Me too. So what are you doing?”

Michael: “I'm writing a story.”

Allison: “Can I read it?”

Michael: “I'll let you read it when I'm done.”

Michael's Diary: The Narcissist

 

This morning, Allison showed the chat log she had on a group chat.

"I knew Kate was lying at that point," Allison said. 

"That isn't evidence that Kate killed Jason," I said. "I don't even think that counts as a lead. I think Kate Novack is just a narcissist."

"How's so?"

"One of the things narcissists typically do is spread a smear campaign against others. That's what Kate is doing.  If Kate murdered Jason, then she would have to look for a new narcissist supply. It isn't exactly uncommon for narcissists to return to their previous narcissist supply."

"How do you know so much about narcissists?"

"Steve used to complain a lot about his dad in high school. So, I ended up doing some research."

"That does make sense. But why would Jason go on Facebook and say he was gonna get murdered, and then kill himself a short while later?"

"I have no idea."

"I need to find the truth. If Jason actually took his own life, I will have to accept it."

If Allison is this obsessed with finding Jason's alleged killer, then I shudder to think what Steve's going through.

Michael's Diary: Kareoke Night

 

Yesterday, Allison, Sarah, Melody, and I went to Steve and Shelly's house.

 "So, let's review," I said."Kate Novack has motive to murder Jason Lawrence. She also has a history of making accusations against Jason. However, witnesses claimed they saw Jason jump off a bridge. Shelly thinks Kate is the serial killer who's killing trans people. What do you all think?"

"The only thing Kate Novack and the Trans Killer have in common is that they're both good at covering their tracks," Sarah said. "However, there's nothing connecting her to the killings of trans people. There is, however, a connection between Jason and Kate."

"What about that cult?" Melody asked. "They had a serial killer once, but he committed suicide while in jail."

"I can fill you in on that," Allison said. "Since Daddy Brian is a cop, I can fill you in on the cult. The cult's serial killer, George Barter, didn't target trans people. He killed anyone who wasn't cisgender, straight, or White. There's nothing in the cult's scriptures about killing or discrimination. The only thing this cult is guilty of is drug trafficking."

"So, the cult is a front for drug trafficking," Steve said.

"Yes, but there's more to it than that. The founders of the cult created it to get people hooked on drugs."

"So, it's possible that some random transphobe was inspired by George Barter to kill trans people," I said.

"Do you know what the cult believes in?" Sarah asked. "It could be a clue."

"They worship a moon goddess named Selena," Allison said. "She's often depicted as a young woman, but she protects her worshippers like a mother. Selena hid her face because anybody who sees it would go insane. So, Selena was either very beautiful or ugly. Some of the women wear veils or masks during sermons to feel closer to Selena."

"Great, somebody was inspired by Islam to create a cult," Sarah said. "It was bad enough that all Muslims were deemed terrorists after 9/11."

"So, we're back to square one," I said. "Fuck us."

"Why hasn't the RNC or RCMP found out who created that fake Facebook account with Allison's name on it?" Sarah asked.

"It's because we're Canadian and Facebook is an American company," Allison said. "The odds of either police force getting a search warrant for an American company are none to negative infinity."

"I think we should take a break," Shelly said. "It will clear our heads."

"My parents are babysitting Josh and Scott," Steve said. "I'd say we get drunk and stoned."

"We can head down to George Street," Shelly said.

"I don't think I can," Sarah said. "George Street is too expensive."

"That's too bad," Allison said. "I haven't sung karaoke in years."

"We have a karaoke machine," Melody said. "I can bring it here."

"That sounds like fun," Shelly said. "Fuck it! I'm gonna go buy some booze and weed."

While Shelly was out getting booze and weed, and Melody was getting her karaoke machine, I saw Allison typing away on her phone.

"Who are you texting?" Sarah asked.

"Nobody," Allison said. "I'm just writing a story."

"Can we read it?" Steve asked.

"Sure. I'll post it in the group chat when I'm done."

As soon as Shelly and Melody returned, we sang karaoke while drunk and stoned. Just for fun, I made a playlist based on the songs we sang. Melody and Sarah sang "Angel" by Aerosmith. It made sense since it was their wedding song. They also sang individually. Sarah sang "Save Me" by Remy Zero. Melody sang "Money For Nothing" by Dire Straits. I sang "Cult of Personality" by Living Colour and "Rollin'" by Limp Bizkit. I'm a huge wrestling fan, and both songs were used in wrestling. Allison sang "One Way or Another" by Blondie and "Every Breath You Take" by The Police. Steve's song choices were "Hell" by Squirrel Nut Zippers and "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga. Shelly sang "I Wish" by R. Kelly and "Mother" by John Lennon.

"I can't believe you sang an R. Kelly song," Melody said.

"Hey, the song is so good, I can actually separate the art from the artist," Shelly said.

"I just realized something," Steve said. "We haven't sung a song from the Gen Z era. We are so old."

"We're not old, babe. We're only pushing 30. Well, I am. You're already 30."

"See? I'm old!"

"I just realized something," Steve said. "We haven't sung a song from the Gen Z era. We are so old."

"We're not old, babe. We're only pushing 30. Well, I am. You're already 30."

"See? I'm old!"

"I just thought of something," I said. "You're considered young in your 20s and middle-aged in your 40s. What the fuck do we call ourselves in our 30s?"

"You're the writer here," Melody said. "Make something up."

"I can't. I'm too fucking stoned."

"How high are you?" Melody asked.

"I'm higher than inflation."

These are the types of conversations we all had until 2:00 in the morning. By that time, we all just crashed at Steve and Shelly's house.

Shelly's Diary - Night Terror

This is the first time I've ever wrote a diary. Anyway, I'm worried about Steve, and I need to figure out how to help him. He's taking his brother's death hard. Not that I blame him. Not only did he slam his fists on the kitchen table tonight, but he also had a night terror.

"Alex!" Steve screamed.

I gave Steve a hug, and I assured him it was just a night terror.

"I can't deal with this," Steve said, crying perfusly. "How the fuck am I going to get passed this? My own brother was murdered just for being trans, and people are celebrating this serial killer. I guess it's true what to say. Only the good die young! Alex created a cryptocurrency, and now... and now."

Watching Steve have an anxiety attack over Alex's death broke my heart. I give Steve another hug and we both ended up crying.

"Alex didn't deserve this," Steve said.

"I know," I said. "I'm gonna help you find your brother's killer."

Michael's Diary: The Process of Grieving

I paid a visit to Steve and Shelly. "Hey!" I said to Steve. "I'm just checking in on you."

"Thanks," Steve said. "I know this is a stupid question, but how are you feeling?"

"I'm furious. I'm avoiding Facebook because far too many people are glad that trans people are getting murdered. One of those trans people was my fucking brother!" Steve slammed the kitchen table.

"Come here," Shelly said to Steve. Shelly gave Steve a hug, and Steve broke down crying.

"How are your parents coping with this?" I asked. "They must be devastated."

"I'm surprised Dad wasn't happy that Alex is dead," Steve said. "That sack of shit told Alex that he's a sexual predator, solely based on the fact that he's trans!"

"Fuck! Your dad is fucked."

"Yeah. Of course, Dad blames Alex for being murdered."

"If I hadn't known better, I'd say your dad killed Alex." Steve stopped crying and took a deep breath.

"No," Steve said calmly. "Alex was killed in the parking lot where he worked, and he owned a car. So, Dad had no reason to be there. Besides, Alex hadn't spoken to either Mom or Dad since 2018."

"I heard that you and Allison are helping each other out solving murders."

"I tried to convince Steve this is a bad idea," Shelly said. "He won't listen."

"You really need to take time to grieve properly," I said to Steve.

"There is no proper way to grieve," Steve said. "Everything about grieving is unhealthy. Think about it. Do you think it's healthy to be in denial over somebody's death?"

"Allison is convinced that Kate Novack murdered Jason Lawrence. Do you think she's the one who's killing trans people?"

"It's unlikely. Kate identifies as non-binary and goes by they/them pronouns."

"Well, some people think non-binary people are just a subgroup of being transgender," Shelly said. "It isn't exactly uncommon for trans people to cause harm to other trans people due to internalized transphobia."

"But as far as I know, Jason Lawrence wasn't transgender," I said.

"He was the outlier," Steve said. "But we don't have a shred of evidence that Kate Novack is behind this. You know, if you're going to investigate Alex's death and Allison is going to investigate Jason's death, we might as well get together and talk about it. Besides Alex's funeral, the last time we got together was Sarah and Melody's wedding."

"Personally, I think Allison blames herself for Jason's death," Shelly said. "If somebody created a fake Facebook account using Steve's identity and it spread lies about me, I would have jumped to conclusions myself."

Michael Crane's Diary - The Death of Jason Lawrence

 

Tranquil Heights is a Newfoundland town with a population of about 40,000. It is infamous for its cult, which has been investigated repeatedly for drug trafficking. Tranquil Heights is so full of scandal that my friends and I started a news magazine about it. Before we started our news magazine, my friends investigated the deaths of two individuals. One death we investigated was that of Alex Moody. Alex Moody was a trans man who was brutally assaulted and murdered while leaving work one night. Alex was the younger brother of my brother-in-law, Steve Moody. The other death was that of Jason Lawrence, whose murder was made to look like a suicide.

 

"I'm sorry for your loss," I told Steve while attending Alex's funeral.

 

"Thanks," Steve said.

 

"You haven't said anything about Alex since you found out he was dead," Shelly said. Shelly is my twin sister and obviously Steve's wife.

 

"I'm trying not to think about it," Steve said.

 

"It's bad enough this happened to my brother. What will happen if our sons decide they want to transition?"

 

"Josh and Scott are only four and three, respectively. They can barely speak."

 

"The police have been investigating the cult regarding the deaths of all these trans people for a while, but they can't find a shred of evidence," I said.

 

"Are you saying that the cult killed my brother?" Steve asked.

 

"I have no idea. While there is no evidence that the cult is behind these deaths, they have been involved in various crimes in the past, including murder."

 

"Maybe Allison knows something."

 

"I would leave her alone. She's dealing with a lot." Allison had a friend named Jason Lawrence, who recently died under suspicious circumstances. Somebody created a fake Facebook account, pretending to be Allison. This fake Facebook account spread lies about Jason, and most people believed them.

 

"Allison has confided in me recently about Alex's death," Steve said. "I'll go talk to her."

 

We think Allison may have some insight into Alex's death because one of her fathers is a cop.

 

I went to Allison's home later that day. Before I entered Allison's house, I saw Melody and Sarah coming out of the house.

 

"Hey, guys!" I said.

 

"Allison never told me you were coming here," Sarah said.

 

"It was last minute," Melody said.

 

"Allison is taking Jason's death hard," Melody said.

 

"I can imagine. This isn't how you two would celebrate your nine-year anniversary," I said.

 

"It's still early in the day," Melody said. "Besides, I have some surprises."

 

"No kidding," Sarah said. "While we were talking to Allison, Brian was listening to the radio. Melody requested that they play our wedding song."

 

"Damn, that was romantic," I said.

 

"It was a brief distraction for Allison," Sarah said. "Good luck, Michael."

 

I knocked on Allison's door, and she answered immediately.

 

"Hey, Michael," Allison said.

 

"Are you here to check in on me?"

 

"Well, yeah," I said. "Isn't that what friends do?"

 

"I appreciate it. But I've had so many visits that I haven't had time to investigate Jason's death. It turns out Jason didn't commit suicide. He was murdered."

 

"What?"

 

"Take a look at Jason's last Facebook post." Allison took out her phone and showed me the post.

 

"If the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary tells you I died by suicide or in an accident, don't believe them. I was murdered."

 

Steve and Shelly were here earlier today. Steve agreed to help me figure out who murdered Jason, and I'm going to help him figure out who murdered his brother.

 

"Don't you think you two should take time to grieve first?"

 

"How can we? We both had loved ones who were murdered. Jason was like a brother to me."

 

"Let me guess, you think Kate Novack murdered Jason."

 

"Who else could it be?"

 One year prior to his death, Jason was on trial for the attempted murder of Kate Novack. Long story short, Jason was found not guilty due to lack of evidence. So, Kate had motivation to kill Jason.

 

"I'll leave you to it," I said.

 

"You're not going to help me?" Allison asked.

 

"I have no idea what to do. Besides, Steve is helping you."
